How we started.
As a 17 year old, Stephen Turner found himself reporting for, “fire control” in the United States Marine Corp. He thought he was going to be a firefighter. Instead he was learning how to align, fix, & rebuild optics on all firing insterments on tanks. He found he enjoyed learning optics & he was good at it. After his time in the USMC, Steve, went to Texas Instruments where he learned more about the optics world & worked with Barrett & Blanford before deciding to start his own company. “You are only capable of doing what someone else will allow you to do when working for someone else.” Gaining knowledge & experience, Steve started Global Precision Optics 1990. “We were given four old machines from a local high school to start.” In 2013, Steve’s son, John, left his job as a certified financial planner to join his dad in the partnership & they relocated the business from SC to TN. Their current 3,200 sq. ft. facility has the capability of producing one-of-a-kind prototypes to production numbers upwards of 10,000.
